Applying for a Work Permit in Canada
Purpose: If you have secured a job in Canada, you may be eligible for a work permit. There are two main types of work permits: Open Work Permits and Employer-Specific Work Permits.

Prerequisites:
- Job Offer from a Canadian Employer:
- To apply for a work permit, you need to have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer. Depending on the type of work permit, the employer may need to apply for a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).
- Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA):
- An LMIA proves that there is a need for a foreign worker and that no Canadians are available to fill the position. Some employers may not require an LMIA, depending on the type of job or the specific program.
- Proof of Qualifications:
- You will need to provide proof of your work experience, education, and any relevant certifications.
Required Forms:
- Application for Work Permit Made Outside of Canada (IMM 1295): Form IMM 1295
- Applying for a Work Permit inside Canada – Application to Change Conditions, Extend my Stay or Remain in Canada as a Worker (IMM 5710): IMM 5710
Tips for a Strong Application:
- Ensure your job offer is clear and valid: The job offer must specify the job title, responsibilities, salary, and conditions.
- Double-check LMIA requirements: If required, ensure your employer has a valid LMIA.
- Prepare a complete resume: Include all relevant work experience, and make sure it matches the job you’re applying for.
How to Submit:
