Applying for a Canadian Study Permit

Purpose: If you have been accepted to a recognized Canadian educational institution and want to study in Canada, you will need a Study Permit. It allows you to stay in Canada for the duration of your program plus an additional 90 days.

Prerequisites:

  1. Proof of Acceptance:
    • You must provide an official letter of acceptance from a designated learning institution (DLI) in Canada. Ensure that your school is a DLI as only these institutions can accept international students.
  2. Financial Proof:
    • You must show that you have enough money to pay for tuition fees, living expenses, and return transportation. Typically, you’ll need at least $10,000 CAD for a single student.
  3. Intention to Leave After Studies:
    • You will need to convince the immigration officer that you plan to return home once you complete your studies. Include any future career plans or commitments in your home country.
  4. No Criminal Record:
    • A police certificate may be requested if you have a criminal history.
