His family’s tradition of hosting international students in their Toronto home sparked his lifelong love for connecting with people from around the world, forging friendships, and creating meaningful memories. These early experiences not only inspired Shanny to study abroad himself in Japan, but also ignited a vision: to offer warm, welcoming stays for students, travelers, and newcomers to Canada, making their transition smoother and more memorable.
Though the seeds of Steppio were planted in 2006 during Shanny’s years at York University, the company formally took shape in 2009, driven by the mission to deliver genuine, heartfelt hospitality without the extra fees and middlemen. Over the past decade, Steppio has proudly hosted guests from over 135 countries, earning nearly 500+ glowing reviews with an impressive average rating of 4.80 stars. Our consistent recognition as “Super hosts” for nearly 12 consecutive years, including through platforms like Airbnb, is a testament to our dedication to guest satisfaction and comfort.
